Completely out of curiosity, what if she wore this without the feather and wore it as a Pocahontas costume? I wouldn’t wear it either way but just wanted to ask.

It’s not racist because as a woman of color, she doesn’t have the power to be racist. It is wrong and appropriative, however, regardless of her skin color. She’s basically bastardizing and generalizing native American cultures with the costume and it’s not cool.

I get that, I think, but, Do any of you think she intended that when she put the costume on? She was probably just dressing up for the fun of it or shit, for halloween. Maybe everyones looking… well, too deep into this picture. I see a lot of 5 year old girls running around in a Pocahontas get up, does that make them bad? 

Look, intention doesn’t matter when people face danger as a result of these actions. There are serious repercussions that are possible, and I can link you to them if you want proof.

Just because she didn’t mean for this to hurt people doesn’t make it not hurt people and doesn’t make it okay. If I mistakenly drop a dumbbell on your foot and I break your toe, my intentions don’t really matter do they? Your toe is still broken.
